If there is one fashion house in which fabric and city are deeply rooted, it is Akris in St. Gallen, the city of embroidery. For one hundred years, the only Swiss fashion company that is a member of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode has maintained a close relationship with its geographic origins. The exhibition “Akris: St. Gallen, selbstverständlich” locates the house’s distinctive identity precisely there, offers insight into the close collaboration between the fashion house and the St. Gallen textile industry, and presents those collections in which the local context itself becomes a point of reference.
