Current debates—on ecological footprints, global warming and nutrition, for example—make one thing clear: our relationship with nature urgently needs to be rethought. For many designers, scientists and engineers, plants are central to this task. They are beginning to use vegetation not only as a resource for food, materials or recreation, but also as a source of inspiration in the design process. They study structures and behaviours in the plant world in depth in order to develop new solutions to present and future environmental and social questions. The exhibition Plant Fever at the Museum of Design Zurich presents around 50 international projects from the fields of product design, fashion and new technologies, and examines the hidden potential of plants. Plant Fever at the Museum of Design Zurich is a project conceived by studio d-o-t-s and produced by the Belgian museum CID – Grand-Hornu (Centre d’innovation et de design).
