Located in the recreational landscape of the Merian Gardens, the Ökonomiegebäude Münchenstein in Münchenstein is being given a fresh design through renovation while retaining the building’s identity. The building is also referred to as the “new barn,” and its impressive roof structure still reveals its origins. In the hall on the upper floor, minimally designed metal shade luminaires are used, bringing out the building’s charm to particular effect. Their direct and indirect light distribution serves the intended uses while at the same time highlighting the quality of the roof structure. With the luminaire finished by a glass cylinder, the space also gains a brilliant atmosphere and is therefore ideally suited to events and celebrations. This coherent lighting language continues downstairs into the publicly accessible restaurant on the ground floor, where a modified surface-mounted version of the hall luminaire integrates into the new space.
