The listed castle towers above the town of Rapperswil-Jona as a landmark. Matí planned the lighting for the publicly accessible interior and exterior areas as well as the façade lighting. The new circulation winds upward through five storeys like a concrete sculpture. The lighting design interpreted this imposing vertical as a unified spatial sequence: the light follows the shifts in the stairwell and flows from top to bottom across all levels. The graphic arrangement of the ceiling luminaires contrasts with the organic curves of the architecture, yet thanks to changes in direction and the play of different lengths it never appears rigid. Custom luminaires in several variants were developed for the halls adjoining the circulation area. At dusk, the castle façade is illuminated and the monument becomes visible from afar.
